Regular Meeting Minutes

April 8, 2025

 

Present:             Chairman Gregg Haunroth, Supervisors Tamaya Loewe, Keith Korbein, Ken Jax, Ray Feldman, Emergency Management Director Christopher Leopold, Public Works Director Craig Cox, Clerk/Treasurer Susan Ganther, Deputy Clerk/Treasurer Michaele Korbein

Absent:              Zoning Administrator Dick Martin

 

Call to Order

The meeting was called to order at the town hall at 6:00 p.m.

 

Verification of Posting

The meeting was posted at three public places and online.

 

Minutes

A motion was made by Keith Korbein, seconded by Ken Jax, to approve the minutes of March’s meeting.  Motion carried 5-0.

 

Bank Reconciliation

The reconciliation was read and placed on file for audit.

 

Checks

A motion was made by Keith Korbein, seconded by Tamaya Loewe, to approve checks 14662-14701 totaling $80,094.25 and EFTs totaling $7,454.82.  Motion carried 5-0.

 

Fireworks Permit

A motion was made by Ken Jax, seconded by Ray Feldman to approve a fireworks permit for the Waterfest Committee and to waive the fee.  Motion carried 4-0 with 1 abstaining.

 

Brush Dump Gate

A motion was made by Ray Feldman, seconded by Ken Jax, to move forward with pursuing a cost-effective way such as a manual gate to limit access to the brush dump and to consider setting specific hours of operation.  Motion carried 5-0.

 

Operator’s License

A motion was made by Tamaya Loewe, seconded by Keith Korbein, to approve an operator’s license for Charlotte Mead.  Motion carried 5-0.

 

Emergency Management

April 7-11 is Severe Weather Awareness Week.

Mauston Ambulance held a tabletop exercise.

An Emergency Management conference was attended by Chistopher.

There have been 18 wildfires year-to-date.

 

Roads

Bids for roadwork will be due prior to next month’s meeting. 

The sand shed is now filled with sand discovered behind the brush dump

Work continues on trees that came down in storms.

Zoning Administrator’s Report/Building Permits

2 permits were issued in March.  Both were for new houses.

 

Parks

Playground construction will resume. 

Flower seeds will be planted soon.

 

Board Reports

Tamaya Loewe              The Waterfest Committee is considering the continuation of the yearly fireworks display.

 

Ray Feldman                  Mentioned some difficult to read signs and a lack of a road sign on 37th and 58th.  It was noted that a new sign has been ordered because it had been stolen.

 

Keith Korbein                  Keith will be attending the Wisconsin Town’s Association’s continuing education for elected officials.

 

Gregg Haunroth           There is a lot of misinformation about a potential new campground. 

 

Met with MSA about an extremely delayed invoice related to the park in the amount of $1,112.50.  MSA has agreed to split the payment as they caused the delay.

 

Public Comment

There was a lot of truck traffic on Hwy G during road bans.  Could there be extra patrols by the Sheriff’s Department?

 

Closed Session

A motion was made by Keith Krobein, seconded by Ken Jax, to go into closed session.  A roll call vote was taken:  Loewe – Y, Korbein – Y, Haunroth – Y, Jax – Y, Feldman – Y.  Motion carried 5-0.

 

Open Session

A motion was made by Tamaya Loewe, seconded by Keith Korbein, to go into open session.  A roll call vote was taken:  Loewe – Y, Korbein – Y, Haunroth – Y, Jax – Y, Feldman – Y.  Motion carried 5-0.

 

Adjourn

A motion was made by Ray Feldman, seconded by Tamaya Loewe, to adjourn at 7:30 p.m.  Motion carried 5-0.
