Emergency Management

GenComm installed new radio in truck. They also moved existing radios to different trucks. There are some technical issues being worked through.

Christopher hopes to attend the Governor’s Conference for the Emergency Management and Homeland Security in February.

On February 2nd Tony Kurtz will be meeting with EMS services in Juneau County.

Roads

The weather, including ice, depleted the salt/sand supply quickly.  The supply nearly ran out during back-to-back weather events.  Dick Martin recommends that the board consider a larger storage shed to hold sand allowing for a larger volume to be kept on hand.

In the spring, clean up of storm damaged trees will need to be done in the road right of way.  It is recommended that assistance be hired for the Public Works Department due to the volume of work and lack of certain equipment.  Dick Martin spoke with Edwards Tree Service that quoted $1,500/day for 3 workers, a chipper, and various other equipment.  They could work specifically in subdivisions.

Zoning

108 total permits issued in 2022.  70 were for new homes.

Parks/Hall

MSA provided a park update.  More gravel was needed than anticipated.  This cost will likely be offset by a savings in work on riprap on the beach.

Board Reports

Collis – Heard complaints about the amount of salt/sand on the roads.

Korbein – Heard complaints about management of drifting snow.

Haunroth – Signs for the brush dump are currently being designed.

Jax – Questioned about marker stakes being used roadside for yards.  It is recommended that the stakes be at least 2’ off the pavement.

Public Comment

Stakes/rods being placed near the roads are a danger for cars and snowmobiles.

Request made that social media be more proactively used.
