Regular Meeting Minutes
May 13, 2025
Present: Chairman Gregg Haunroth, Supervisors Tamaya Loewe, Keith Korbein, Ken Jax, Ray Feldman, Emergency Management Director Christopher Leopold, Clerk/Treasurer Susan Ganther, Deputy Clerk/Treasurer Michaele Korbein
Absent: Zoning Administrator Dick Martin
Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 4:45 p.m. at the town hall.
Closed Session
A motion was made by Keith Korbein, seconded by Ray Feldman, to go into closed session. A roll call vote was taken: Loewe – Y, Korbein – Y, Haunroth – Y, Jax – Y, Feldman – Y.
Open Session
A motion was made by Ken Jax, seconded by Keith Korbein, to go into open session. A roll call vote was taken: Loewe – Y, Korbein – Y, Haunroth – Y, Jax – Y, Feldman – Y.
Road Bids
A bid from Scott Construction was opened. A motion was made by Keith Korbein, seconded by Ken Jax, to award Scott Construction the road maintenance contract contingent upon review and approval by Craig Cox and Dick Martin. A roll call vote was taken: Loewe – Y, Korbein – Y, Haunroth – Y, Jax – Y, Feldman – Y.
Minutes
A motion was made by Tamaya Loewe, seconded by Ray Feldman, to approve the minutes of April’s meeting. Motion carried 5-0.
Bank Reconciliation
The reconciliation was read aloud and placed on file for audit.
Checks
A motion was made by Keith Korbein, seconded by Ray Feldman, to approve checks 14702-14748 totaling $84,430.47 and EFTs totaling $5,458.99. Motion carried 5-0.
Resolution 2025-3 Amending the 2025 Budget
A motion was made by Tamaya Loewe, seconded by Ken Jax, to approve Resolution 2025-3 Amending the 2025 Budget. A roll call vote was taken: Loewe – Y, Korbein – Y, Haunroth – Y, Jax – Y, Feldman – Y.
Brush Dump Gate
A motion was made by Tamaya Loewe, seconded by Keith Korbein, to approve $600 for the purchase of a brush dump gate. Motion carried 5-0.
Reserve Liquor License
There was a discussion on moving forward with investigation of offering a reserve liquor license.
MSA Invoice
A motion was made by Tamaya Loewe, seconded by Ken Jax, to approve the negotiated 50% payment of a delayed invoice from MSA in the amount of $556.25. Motion carried 5-0.
DeVoe Painting Quote
A motion was made by Keith Korbein, seconded by Ken Jax to approve the quote from DeVoe Painting to paint doors in the town hall in the amount of $1,150.00. Motion carried 5-0.
Operator’s License
None
Mauston Ambulance Presentation
Director Christopher Leopold gave some background on the Ambulance Association, information about initiatives within the Association, and staffing.
Emergency Management
Chris addressed members of the Wisconsin Assembly and Senate regarding bills before them related to the funding of emergency services.
Fire danger is extreme currently.
Sean Mason is the new conservation warden in the area. He spoke with Chris regarding a large increase in police presence on Castle Rock Lake this summer.
Roads
Patching has started.
Tree damage continues to be cleaned up.
Zoning/Permits
10 permits were issued in April. 5 were for new homes.
Parks
The pier damage needs to be repaired.
Wildflower gardens were planted.
Beach clean-up will be done.
Board Reports
Haunroth – Working with the Sheriff’s Department regarding people living in a garage in Whistling Wings. Working with the Sanitary District and County Zoning about moving parcels from septic to sanitary district service and a district related ordinance.
Loewe – Waterfest has been cancelled this year. Attended an educational conference regarding roads.
Korbein – Next week is EMS week. Please keep the EMS workers in your thoughts.
Jax – None
Feldman – None
Public Comment
There was a question on the status of a Short Term Rental Ordinance which is still being worked on.
There was a question about changing the brush dump hours.

A motion was made by Ken Jax, seconded by Keith Korbein, to go into open session. A roll call vote was taken: Loewe – Y, Korbein – Y, Haunroth – Y, Jax – Y, Feldman – Y.
As a result of discussions in closed session a motion was made by Tamaya Loewe, seconded by Ken Jax, to re-hire Dick Martin at 20 hours per week with no retirement or insurance benefits. A roll call vote was taken: Loewe – Y, Korbein – Y, Haunroth – Y, Jax – Y, Feldman – Y.
Adjourn
A motion was made by Ken Jax, seconded by Keith Korbein to adjourn at 7:42 p.m. Motion carried 5-0.
