Planning Commission Meeting Minutes

March 15, 2023

Present:            Commission Chair Shannon Armel, Commissioners Ken Jax, Keith Korbein, Mick McCormick, Zoning Administrator Dick Martin, Mick McCormick, Deputy Clerk/Treasurer Michaele Korbein

Absent:            Commissioner Gervase Thompson

Applicant Present:        None

–Call to Order

The Planning Commission meeting was called to order by chairperson Shannon Armel at the Germantown Town Hall at 5:36pm.   The Pledge of Allegiance was said.

–Possible approval of the February meetings minutes

Keith Korbein made a motion, seconded by Mick McCormick, to approve the minutes of the February 15, 2023 Planning Commission meeting.  Motion passed 4-0.

–Discussion and possible approval of conditional use permit for signs for Mike Edwards

Ken Jax made a motion to DENY the conditional use application for Mike Edwards for the two triangle framed sign structures at N6858 State Road 58, seconded by Mick McCormick.  Motion passed 4/0.

–Discussion and possible approval of changes to ordinances 13,15,30,35,46,57

Chairman Shannon Armel will continue to try putting these all together into a traffic code.  Should keep Ordinance 15 separate from the rest as it deals mostly with road construction, while 13,30,35,46, & 57 deal with more traffic-related items. 

In reviewing Ordinance 15, should get Town’s engineer involved to review it to make sure it is up to date and will meet Germantown’s needs, especially with possibly changing asphalt thickness. Currently it is 2”, but may need to increase to 3 1/2” as the roads are not holding up well with the increase in traffic, specifically construction and garbage trucks.

Ordinance 30 deals with speed limits.  This could be changed to say “All town roads are 25 mph unless otherwise stated below” and then list those at 45 mph and 35 mph.  This would prevent having to revise the ordinance every time a road is added.

Ordinance 46 needs the area of No Parking by the Dirty Turtle added into section XI.

Ordinance 55 deals lists the roads with the seasonal weight restrictions.
