Present: Commission Chair Shannon Armel, Commissioners Keith Korbein, Ken Jax, Mick McCormick, Deputy Clerk/Treasurer Michaele Korbein

Absent:  Commissioner Gervase Thompson, Zoning Administrator Dick Martin

Call to Order

Planning Commission meeting was called to order by Chairperson Shannon Armel at the Germantown Town Hall at 5:30 p.m.




Possible approval of meeting minutes.

Keith Korbein made a motion, seconded by Ken Jax, to approve the April 21, 2021 minutes.  Motion passed 4-0.


Work session on signs, sign ordinance and sign fees from fee schedule.

In fee schedule, change the ‘Sign size -35 Sq ft’  to  ‘Sign size -over 35 sq ft’ and add in ‘as determined by conditional use permit’. Modify ‘No fee charged if Town requires a sign owner to remove a sign’ to ‘If Town requires a sign owner to remove a sign, sign owner has 30 days to remove said sign after notification.’  Also include that fines of $25/day for non-compliance will be charged, along with any costs the Town incurs to remove and dispose of it.


On the work session copy of the sign ordinance, need to add a definition for TOD sign.  Include under ‘Exempted from permit process’ directional signs and trail markers for ATV/UTV/Snowmobile trails.  Add in under ‘General Standards’ that ‘Only one on-premises advertising sign is allowed per business’.  Other changes as discussed will also be typed, sections will be re-numbered and ordered, and then will be sent out for members to review for the next meeting.



Next meeting will be August 11, 2021 at 5:30pm.

Ken Jax made a motion, seconded by Keith Korbein, to adjourn at 6:52pm.  Motion carried 4-0.
