Present:               Chairman Gregg Haunroth, Supervisors Ken Jax, Keith Korbein, Ray Feldman, Skip                                     Barton, Assistant Emergency Management Director Christopher Leopold Clerk/Treasurer                              Susan Ganther, Deputy Clerk/Treasurer Michaele Korbein

 

Absent:                Emergency Management Director Fred Cobbs, Zoning Administrator Dick Martin

 

Call to Order

The meeting was called to order at the town hall at 6:00 p.m.

 

Sanitary District

A statement was made by District 1 President Pat Connors at which time he submitted his resignation from the board.  A motion was made by Ray Feldman, seconded by Skip Barton, to appoint Ken Jax to the Sanitary District 1 board for the remainder of Mr. Connors term.  Motion carried 4-0.

 

Island Lake

A motion was made by Keith Korbein, seconded by Ken Jax, to approve the preliminary and final plat for the 8th Addition to Island Lake at Copper Point.  Motion carried 5-0.

 

Minutes

A motion was made by Keith Korbein, seconded by Skip Barton, to approve the May 19 and May 26, 2020 minutes.  Motion carried 5-0.

 

Treasurer’s Report

A motion was made by Ray Feldman, seconded by Skip Barton, to accept the Treasurer’s Report.  Motion carried 5-0.

 

Checks

A motion was made by Ray Feldman, seconded by Skip Barton, to approve checks 120511-12085 totaling $41,548.33 and EFT’s totaling $4,871.14.  Motion carried 5-0.

 

Rescinding Ordinance 42

Ordinance 42 adopted the 2008 Comprehensive Plan.  Because the 2008 Plan was replaced with the 2017 Comprehensive Plan by Ordinance 55, Ordinance 42 was no longer needed.  A motion was made by Ken Jax, seconded by Keith Korbein, to rescind Ordinance 42.  A roll call vote was taken:  Barton – Y,

Korbein – Y, Haunroth – Y, Jax – Y, Feldman – Y.  Motion carried 5-0.

  

Ordinance 55 A1

A motion was made by Ray Feldman, seconded by Keith Korbein, to adopt Ordinance 55 A1 amending the 2017 Comprehensive Plan.  A roll call vote was taken:  Barton – Y, Korbein – Y, Haunroth – Y, Jax – Y, Feldman – Y.  Motion carried 5-0.

 

Liquor Licenses

A motion was made to approve liquor licenses as shown on the attached list, with the condition that Portofino Bay pay a past due invoice prior to receiving their license.  Motion carried 5-0

 

Operator’s Licenses

A motion was made by Ray Feldman, seconded by Skip Barton, to approve operator’s licenses shown on the attached list.  Motion carried 5-0 with Ray Feldman abstaining from voting on Gavin Gray, and Gregg Haunroth abstaining from voting on Sean Fank. 

 

Budget Resolution 2020-4 Amending the 2020 Budget

A motion was made by Skip Barton, seconded by Ken Jax, to approve Resolution 2020-4.  A roll call vote was taken:  Barton – Y, Korbein – Y, Haunroth – Y, Jax – Y, Feldman – Y.  Motion carried 5-0.

 

Fireworks Permit

A motion was made by Keith Korbein, seconded by Skip Barton, to approve a fireworks permit for the Waterfest Committee.  Motion carried 5-0.

 

Public Safety

Mauston Ambulance is faced with a budget deficit due to COVID 19.  Stimulus money, grant money, and Payroll Protection are closing the gap.

 

Roads

No Report

 

Building Permit

7 permits issued in May.  4 for new homes.

 

Parks/Hall

Still moving forward with satisfying requirements for grant application. 

 

Board Reports

Ray Feldman – Plans for the sale of the Mauston School Forest are still being worked on with all parties            involved.

 

Skip Barton – Work needs to be done on the rain gutters on the town hall.

 

Gregg Haunroth – A swim area had been set up by residents of the Gardens near Portofino.  WRPCO and        the DNR were consulted and the barriers will need to be removed until proper procedure has    been followed to designate a swim area.

The office was contacted by the Department of Revenue regarding the legality of the tiki bar at Portofino after receiving a complaint from residents of the Gardens. 

 

Public Comment

Brad Pavloski – Contrary to expectations new home sales are up due to COVID 19.  Many buyers plan on making these homes primary residences.

A motion was made by Ken Jax, seconded by Keith Korbein, to adjourn at 6:45 p.m.  Motion carried 5-0.
