Regular Meeting Minutes
September 10, 2024
Present: Chairman Gregg Haunroth, Supervisors Tamaya Loewe, Keith Korbein, Ken Jax, Zoning Administrator Dick Martin, Emergency Management Director Christopher Leopold, Deputy Clerk/Treasurer Michaele Korbein
Absent: Supervisor Ray Feldman, Clerk/Treasurer Susan Ganther
Also Present: Twelve members of the public
Call Meeting to Order
Chairman Gregg Haunroth called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. at the town hall.

Verification of Posting
Michaele Korbein verified the agenda was posted at three public places.
Presentation by Mauston School District Superintendent
Mauston School District representatives were Lynda Oleinik (Director of Teaching & Learning), Jack Hammer (Principal of Olson Middle School), and Jolene Routson (Westside Elementary and Mauston Montessori Principal). They presented a handout and information on their school district’s operational referendum that will be on the November ballot.
Discussion and possible approval of minutes from previous meetings
A motion was made by Tamaya Loewe, seconded by Ken Jax, to approve the August meeting minutes. Motion carried 4-0.
Treasurer’s Report and Bank Reconciliation Report
The Treasurer’s and Bank Reconciliation reports were read aloud and placed on file for the auditor.
Possible approval of Vouchers and Checks
A motion was made by Keith Korbein, seconded by Tamaya Loewe, to approve general fund checks 14336-14369 totaling $54,731.24, tax account check 2017 totaling $200.00, and payroll liabilities totaling $8,051.54. Motion carried 4-0.
Possible approval of Operator’s License applications
None.
Discussion and possible approval of hiring of Vierbicher for ordinance writing
Question if this is really needed. Do not want to pass an ordinance that cannot be enforced. Planning Commission has been discussing and working on creating a short term rental ordinance for almost a year. Thoughts are to get a list together of what property owners would like included in an ordinance. A questionnaire will be created to be included in the tax bill to all property owners to learn . The Chairman will attend tomorrow evening’s Planning Commission meeting on this.
Discussion and possible approval of Resolution 2024-05 Amending the 2024 Budget
Tamaya Loewe made a motion to approve Resolution 2024-05 Amending the 2024 Budget, seconded by Ken Jax. A roll call vote was taken: Loewe – Y, Korbein – Y, Haunroth – Y, Jax – Y, Motion carried 4-0.
Discussion and possible acceptance with approval of ARPA funds designations
Ken Jax made a motion, seconded by Keith Korbein, to accept and approve quotes for the plumbing work for the bathroom remodeling of $4,200 and for DeVoe Painting for painting the ceiling in the main hall for $2,150, with the money to come from ARPA funds. Motion passed 4/0.
Committee Reports:
Public Safety / Emergency Management
Five employes of the town attended the CPR class taught by MAAA.
Budget work is completed for the MAAA.
Emergency boat access locations were provided to MAAA by the Pavloski’s for all their lakes.
Roads Report
Shoulder work is being done currently.
Crack filling and patching will be done soon.
The new building components arrived; concrete for it to be poured next week.
Zoning Administrator’s Report/Building Permits
16 permits were issued in August. 11 were for new houses. Year to date total is 51.
Parks / Town Hall / Buildings
Concrete work for the playground equipment is in process. With remaining park grant funds, park benches were ordered. Wood mulch to cover area when completed. A meeting is being scheduled to determine wildflower seeds needed to also get them ordered with the remaining grant funds.
During the hall remodeling, a wet area was uncovered in exterior wall of the men’s restroom. It is being checked to see how/where it is coming from, and repairs will have to be made.
Board Reports
Gregg Haunroth: Red mulch was donated by Craig Cox, our new town worker, to improve the landscaping by the Community Center sign on 17th. Thank you, Craig.
Also, an abandoned house with junk and graffiti was reported in Whistling Wings.

Keith Korbein made a motion, seconded by Ken Jax, to adjourn at 7:06 p.m. Motion carried 4-0.
